Eridan Ampora walked down the halls nervously as he followed a trail of blood. The blood was olive, the color of one of his only friends'. As he walked, he heard a soft 'honk' in the distance, and shuddered. Then he heard a sob, racked by tears. Eridan quickened his pace and reached a room, a figure crumpled up in the middle of it, holding her arms in front of her chest. Nepeta Leijon was close to death, her blood splattered all over her clothes and now pale gray skin.
"nep?" Eridan breathed, running over to her and putting a hand on her shoulder. "did gamzee get you?" he exclaimed.
"Yes, he did!" Nepeta breathed, whimpering. "I-I'm not going to last much longer, Ampurra…"
"shit… n-nep, wwhat can i do for you? name it, i wwill do it!"
"Ampurra, the most you could do is just…g-get me out of this r-room, I would move myself but by blood leaves trails, it would make it easier for Gamzee to find me…" she whined, clutching Eridan's hand.
Another honk rippled in the air, and Eridan cleared his throat. "right…" he murmured, picking Nepeta up bridal style. "i'll get you out, i swwear."
As they walked down the halls, the only thing Eridan could hear was Nepeta' shallow breathing. It nearly brought him to tears, so he gritted his teeth, especially when he felt breathing down his neck.
"Hey Eridan, is that Nepeta you have with ya, bro?" Gamzee smirked. Eridan twirled around for a good five seconds before running for his life, quite literally, and he darted in and out of halls as Nepeta wailed in worry.
"don't wworry nep; I got this, trust me." He murmured. Gamzee ended up losing them as Eridan walked Nepeta outside into the warm sun.
"howw do you feel?" he stroked her hair.
"I feel like a bottle of shaken faygo…" Nepeta whined. "Eridan. Just, leave me here. You need to live as long as you can. Don't give up hope. Tell everyone about this okay. Especially Karkitty…" she let out a small puff of air as Eridan lied her down.
"i don't wwant to leave you." Eridan looked her in the eyes, tears flooding his own.
"It'll be okay; I purromise. I'll greet you when we reach troll heaven." She smiled weakly.
"nep; can i tell you something?" Eridan frowned, a tear slipping down his cheek.
"im flushed for you." his heart seemed to swell a bit and it genuinely hurt.
Nepeta giggled and smiled at him. "I know. It's kinda obvious, Ampurra."
Eridan's face turned grape and he chuckled. "do you still like kar?"
"I can't not like him; but I gave up on chasing him a while ago, since he's with Terezi… I do have someone else though, Ampurra."
"tavv? sol?" Eridan quirked a brow.
"Try you." Nepeta smiled and held his hand.
"y-you like me?" Eridan began feeling faint. She was going to die soon and Nepeta just admitted her feelings. "wwhy did you not tell me earlier?" he stuttered out.
"Equius would kill me…" Nepeta opened her mouth to say more, but Gamzee's shadow appears near them, and he honked. "Go Ampurra, I'll see you in heaven." She smiled and Eridan kissed her quickly before looking at Gamzee, shaking his head.
"you shouldn't die nep. not like this." He sighed and ran for the hills, and they never saw each other for ages.
